Narrative & Documentary Work
My film projects often feature protagonists who carry the weight of intergenerational dreams while forging their own paths. This exploration of collective resilience through individual journeys allows me to tell stories that speaks to both universal human experiences and the specific challenges faced by marginalized communities. My voice finds its fullest expression in these intersections – where personal stories become portals to deeper understanding of our shared humanity, and where the ‘impossible’ transforms into the achievable through the sheer force of human will and community support.

Get Your Tita
Written and directed by Kat Evasco, Get Your Tita is a comedic short film (16 min) that tells the story of a Filipino American family coming together coming together to celebrate their Lola’s 70th birthday, only for the celebration to be hijacked by 18-year old, Lauren, pushing her family into an unexpected political debate and addressing her conservative Christian aunt, Tita Gigi. Inspired by the traditional Filipino practice of balagtasan, a verbal debate done in verse and poetry – the family battle out their opposing social and political perspectives in preparation for the upcoming 2024 elections. This project was funded by the AAPI Civic Engagement Fund Creative Catalyst Fellowship 2023-2024 and was produced by With You Productions.
